The A-KIP® principle

Defender 110 & 130 – A-KIP® Protected by TRASCO

A-KIP® stands for Anti-Kidnapping Protection: discreet lightweight ballistic protection for the critical areas of the cabin. It protects the occupants against typical criminal attacks – from handguns up to assault rifles – so the vehicle can leave the scene. Engineered and manufactured by TRASCO in Bremen, with materials certified to VPAM 4 and VPAM 6 in the protected areas.

  • Discretion as protection Virtually indistinguishable from a standard model – blends in with normal traffic.
  • Lightweight by design Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) unchanged – payload reduced by only ≈ 220 kg (VPAM 4) or ≈ 330 kg (VPAM 6).
  • Every safety system intact Full airbag functionality and driver assistance systems (ADAS) retained – crash-tested.
  • JLR “Accredited Converter” Officially and exclusively authorized by Jaguar Land Rover – for the Defender 110 & 130.

The Concept

“Discretion is often the best form of defense – the vehicle is virtually indistinguishable from a standard model.”

Allan Petty · Sales Director Europe, TRASCO

Ballistic glass, ballistic steel and advanced composites protect the critical areas of the passenger cabin to VPAM 4 or VPAM 6 – while the Defender remains within its original gross vehicle weight rating, keeps its dynamics and complements fully armored vehicles instead of replacing them.
