Authorities across the world operate the standard Defender every day. The A-KIP® conversion keeps everything familiar – driving behavior, dimensions, controls and the global service network – and adds ballistic protection with materials certified to VPAM-PM 4 or VPAM-PM 6 in the protected areas.
Because the vehicle remains within its original gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), no special license or driver conversion is required: license class B, full airbag function and driver assistance systems are retained.
A-KIP® provides partial ballistic protection by design – a protective layer for operational teams in convoy, perimeter, escort and support roles. It complements fully armored vehicles rather than replacing them.
