The one structural difference

Two rear protection principles.

Defender 110 rear with open tailgate – ballistic partition wall with integrated glass window behind the rear seats

Defender 110 – partition wall

The rear section is protected by a ballistic partition wall behind the rear seats, with an integrated ballistic glass window preserving rear visibility. Tailgate and rear glass remain factory standard – the spare wheel stays in its original position.

Defender 130 tailgate without spare wheel, finished with high-quality trim panels

Defender 130 – protected tailgate

The 130 protects the full cargo area instead: tailgate and tailgate glass are ballistic, the side cargo glass is covered internally with opaque ballistic material and finished with OEM fabric trim – externally indistinguishable, with dark tinted glass.

Seating & payload

Protection that leaves room.

Maximum seating capacity depends on base vehicle configuration, protection level and any optional security features. The payload is reduced by approximately 330 kg for Level 6 and 220 kg for Level 4 – for the standard protection package without optional equipment.

Optional A-KIP® Security Features

Refined for your risk profile.

Beyond the standard package, each A-KIP® Defender can be equipped with optional security systems – integrated in-house, operated via the systems control panel, finished in OEM quality.

Configuring – Change selection

Security systems

Engine bay of the Defender with the optional fire suppression system cylinder

Engine compartment fire suppression system

Systems control panel

In the event of fire breaking out in the engine bay, deployment is automatically regulated – with the option of a manual start sequence via the systems control panel inside the vehicle.

Underside of a Defender 110 with bolted-on floor protection plates, studio shot

Extended floor blast & fragmentation protection

Protects the occupants against flying fragments caused by a blast from underneath the vehicle – designed to withstand two (2) simultaneously detonated DM51 hand grenades placed under the vehicle floor. Each DM51 carries a 60 g Nitropenta charge and around 6,500 steel fragments of 2–2.3 mm.

Fuel tank with the self-sealing protective coating applied

Fuel tank protection

A self-sealing, flame-resistant coating seals the tank in the event of penetration – preventing fire and further loss of fuel. Tested and approved by an independent laboratory.

AdBlue tank protection

Diesel vehicles

For diesel-powered vehicles: additional fragmentation and ballistic protection to avoid rupture of the AdBlue tank.

Bolted protective cover over the engine control unit in the engine bay

Electronic Control Unit (ECU) protection

Added security preventing potential systems failure caused by ECU damage from fragmentation or ballistic projectiles.
